On Saturday 29 August, Babushka gets its first public outing — not as a finished show, but as a rehearsed reading at the Old Library Studio Theatre, Corn Exchange Newbury. That distinction matters to me.

It would be easy to wait until everything felt polished and certain before inviting anyone in. But The Babushka Project isn’t about certainty — it’s about being honest about what childhood bullying leaves behind, and honest work doesn’t arrive fully formed.

A rehearsed reading means you’ll hear the script aloud, exactly as it stands today, followed by a genuine conversation about what it should become. Teachers, SENCos, safeguarding leads and anyone who cares about young people are especially welcome — your response will shape the next draft.
